    The gas exploration and exploitation activities are managed by BANAGAS, Bahrain National Gas Company (State 75%, Chevron Bahrain 12.5% and K.S.C through Boubyan Petrochemical Company, 12.5%).

    BANAGAS operates several gas plants to extract propane, butane and naphtha from associated gas extracted from the oil wells and refinery off-gas.

  • Energy Consumption

    Per capita energy consumption reached 9.7 toe in 2016, while electricity consumption per capita was 19.4 MWh.

    Total energy consumption has increased by 4 %/year on average between 2000 and 2015, reaching 14.3 Mtoe in 2015. It then declined by 3% in 2016 to 13.9 Mtoe.
