    Total energy consumption per capita remains very low: 0.7 toe in 2017, compared to 1.9 toe per capita at the global level, and 1.4 toe per capita in the Asian region. Electricity consumption per capita was 871 kWh in 2017, compared with an Asian average of around 2 300 kWh.
