    Resources:

    The country's main energy resourcesare solar energy, oil shale and, more recently, natural gas. The proven oil shale reserves are estimated at 250 mbl of oil (third largest oil shale deposits in the world, after USA and China), i.e. the equivalent of 60 years of consumption. Israel's proven gas reserves are very large, at a current estimated level of about 465 bcm.

  • Energy Prices

    Electricity:

    The price of electricity dropped significantly in 2016 compared to 2014 (by about 19% for households and 30% for industry), as a result of higher production from natural gas. In 2016, it reached US$14c/kWh for households and US$8c/kWh for industry. The residential electricity price increased by 5% in 2017 to reach US$14.8c/kWh.

  • Energy Consumption

    Israel's consumption per capita is about 2.7 toe (including 6 600 kWh of electricity) (2017).

    After a 9% increase in 2015, total consumption has been increasing by 1%/year to reach 23.7 Mtoe in 2017.
