    The proven oil reserves are estimated at 13.3 Gt or 97.8 Gbl (end of 2017; ranking them 8th largest in the world), 94% of which are located in Abu Dhabi. The proven natural gas reserves reach 6 090 bcm (ranking them 7th largest in the world), 93% of which are in Abu Dhabi.

    Electricity:

    Each emirate decides its prices independently. Electricity prices are dependent on natural gas prices.

  • Energy Consumption

    Total energy consumption per capita is very high (the 7th highest worldwide in 2016) and represents 7.9 toe in 2017. Per capita electricity consumption is also very high, at 13 MWh in 2017(9th highest in the World).

    Total energy consumption has more than doubled between 2000 and 2014 but has remained rather stable since then (74 Mtoe in 2017).
