Overview

Liquefied natural gas (LNG) consumption and production are gaining momentum on world energy markets. Liquefaction makes possible dramatic reductions in transportation costs and offers new opportunities to value gas reserves in producing countries (Australia, Qatar or Nigeria). LNG is also a strategic alternative to long-term gas supply through pipelines for consuming countries. In a global context of rising energy demand from emerging countries such as China or India but also from traditional LNG importers such as post-Fukushima Japan, LNG is increasingly seen as a major commodity on world energy markets.

Where can I find the latest data on existing liquefaction and regasification terminals around the world including the tanks capacity, number of tanks, store commissioning, facility type, operating company and main shareholder?

Enerdata provides an online platform with detailed LNG information throughout the whole LNG value chain grouped and updated by experts.

  • The LNG Liquefaction, Regasification and Carriers service contains more than 440 LNG facilities around the world, including more than 260 liquefaction and regasification projects at various phases of development. The LNG terminal database enables the identification of key gas companies through their shareholdings in processing plants. It also highlights major projects in new gas producing and importing countries, giving an overview on the future developments of LNG markets.
  • The World LNG service provides updated information on 420 LNG carriers giving details such as their vessel name, owner, operator, shipbuilder, status, country of build, delivery year, withdrawal year, flag, number of tanks, capacity in cubic meters, investment ($m), project & train, origin and LNG natural gas destination. The LNG World service has been recently updated (in the past 1-3 months) to include press releases, international press and regulatory agency announcements for LNG producers & importers.
